8 – 15 of July 2018 in London (UK)
In less than 2 weeks the FETISH WEEK LONDON will start. This is one of the big European fetish events which has become one of the MUSTS for kinksters. The Recon team is organising various events for many different fetishes during one whole week. The highlight is FULL FETISH, a big party with a lot of possibilities to dance, socialise, play and to have fun. During this week you will have also a lot of other organisers doing unofficial events too. Fun and diversity are guaranteed.
MasterMarc: Hi Matt. You’re the new event manager of RECON events. I can imagine you’ve to be very busy right now. Are you nervous too?
Matt: I’m more excited than nervous, I’ve worked alongside Antoin for the past 4 Fetish Week London, so I know what’s in store. Luckily for me Antoin is one of the most organised people I’ve ever met. What’s great about this year is I’ve managed to be much more involved in the lead up to FWL and have a even bigger appreciation for how much work and time goes into the week. I’ve seen FWL grow and over the years and it keeps getting better and better.
sadOsam: Such events are a lot of work, but in the end also a lot of fun. Can you tell us what your visitors can expect this year during the week?
Matt: There’s so much that goes on during Fetish Week. For me it starts with walking during the parade at Pride London- flying the Recon flag and representing kink in all its forms. The first official party is our members party, complete with prize giveaways and performances. It’s a great way to kick off FWL and meet new people. The beginning of the week we have the film screening of 2017’s Tom of Finland.
Our Bondage Masterclass has outgrown every venue we’ve previously used so we’re taking over two spaces at rich mix- people will be able to learn some basic rope play and other forms of BDSM play such as flogging etc. Unleashed, our pup social, is on Wednesday, which is a great place to play for all pups and their handlers. Things start to get hotter from Thursday with the sports cruise and the rubber party on Friday building up to our main event, Full Fetish. We’ll be taking over the arches at great Suffolk Street, creating playspaces, a wet area and chill out spaces. We have more social events over the weekend with he skinhead social on the Saturday and spit roast- the official FWL dinner and close Fetish week with our deconstruction party -one last hurrah.
sadOsam: Are the events during the week well visited? And how much people do you expect for the Full Fetish Party?
Matt: The events are always well attended, there is a nice mix of social events and play events, so there is something for everyone. Each event will have new faces as well as familiar ones, and by the end of the week you will have met so many new people and made new friends. The main event full fetish can get really busy- we’ve easily hit the 1500 mark over the past few years. I meet people every year who fly from all over to attend, not just Europe but the USA and Australia. I brought a few friends from France last year who were blown away at the sheer scale of the event and booked flights in February to a attend again!
sadOsam: It is definitely an event to fly over. Last time we have been there was 2 years ago. Full Fetish was still in an old theatre in Elephant Castle. You have changed the venue now. Can you tell us a little more about the new place the big party will happen?
Matt: The Coronet was a great venue, and it was sad to see it go like so many other venues in London. However, it has presented us with an opportunity to use a different space, and a new layouts and create new spaces for attendees. The new venue we will be using at Great Suffolk street is a great space with plenty of potential, and its been definitely a learning curve and an experience in approaching the set up.
sadOsam: So there will be enough space for the different fetish and also to play? What kind of different play areas will you offer this year?
Matt: We’ll be taking over some pretty impressive arches- so there will be play areas, slings, a wet area as well as a dance floor with music from BlueKandi and Gordon John.
sadOsam: Sounds like a lot of fun and like you have organised several great events. We wish you a lot of success so that your hard work becomes rewarded. And now dear readers, if you have time to travel to London, DO IT! Out of our experiences it is really one of the best European fetish events and a must for every kinkster, who loves to have party and fun with others.
