TUTORIAL: Bondage Basics – The Hip Harness

Together with THE PUPPETEER, a great Bondage Master from the Netherlands, we present you some Basic Bondage Know-How. There are many ways to tie someone up, and the easiest among them is probably just with rope. However, when it comes to knots, most lack basic knowledge about them. That’s why we asked one of the greatest bondage experts we know for help. And he’s gonna teach you how it’s done.

Video Tutorial

This thing is a classic. It’s very common among bondage enthusiasts, as it’s actually part of a 2-parter. You mostly combine it with a chest harness, which will be the part that comes after this one 😉 So look forward to that as well. Now let’s begin!

Written Tutorial

Step 1: Halve your rope as usual, then find your partners hip. It’s important here that you don’t put the rope on top of the hip, as, depending on the position you plan to put him in, it could push into the sub’s belly, which hurts.

Step 2: Wrap it around the sub’s hip 2 times. Here’s a little trick. Instead of holding the rope in one hand, you can put one end over the other, and hold it with friction. Or you can make a quick loose knot. That way, you’ll have both hands free.

Step 3: Make the column tie. If you don’t know how, check out our first tutorial of this series.

Step 4: When you’re done with the knot, lead the rope around the lower part of your sub’s buttocks, and hook it into itself. Then go back around the buttocks again. Now hook it into the hook you made just before, in the rope from the side from when you began.

Extra Tip: Ever wondered how you connect two bondage ropes together? It’s very easy. Ok lets say you have pieces of rope:

Rope 1 (ending with the loose ends)
Rope 2 (ending with a looped end)

Make knots on the respective ends of Rope 1 (That’s generally good advice, they stay stronger for longer that way). Bring the ends of rope 1 together.

Now take the looped end of Rope 2, turn the loop around towards the rest of the rope, and pull this rope through the loop. That will create another loop.

Put the ends of Rope 1 through this loop, and pull on Rope 2 to close the loop. Thighten the closed loop.

(When using the connected rope, make sure that the connection between them is on the outside and does not press on the skin of the sub)

You’re done 🙂 Alright, let’s continue with the tutorial.

Step 5: Ok, you just hooked in after wrapping the rope around your subs butt for the second time. Now to make sure it holds well, hook it into the other side again, from the front to the back.

Step 6: Since we’re on supporting the rope, we still only got one double rope connecting the two parts you made together. Let’s reinforce that. Go from the lower part to the upper rope on besides the connection, hook it in front to back. Then go from the side over the connections (also the one you just made) and hook it in front to back as well. Actually, do that last part 2 times.

Step 7: Ok, now it’s time for the last strap. Go with your rope around the middle part of the buttocks. Once your back to the front, go with it through under the front part. Then go around the butt once more, the same way you did before. This time though, go over the front part, and hook it into the straps you just created.

Step 8: Go back over the front part to the other side and hook it around the middle straps there as well. Then do the thing on the first side you did it again.

Step 9: Go back to the other side, but this time hook it on the lower straps there. Then over to the first side, and into the lower straps there as well.

Aaaaand you’re done! Now, you got a good hip harness with a great support knot over the front. This knot could even be used as a hold for suspension 😉 (though please have some training with that before you actually do it).

You probably have some leftover rope now. We got a few ways here how you could get rid of it.

Version 1

You can with it around the leg of your sub, hook it into itself and make a knot. You can also connect another piece of rope there and continue with your bondage that way.

Version 2

You can continue to hook the rope around the front and reinforce it, or hook it into the side to holster it. That may not always look very aesthetically pleasing though, to be honest.

Version 3

You can also just hook it in once more and use the leftover rope as a leash. Very convenient sometimes. And looks cool on events!

Version 4

You could tie his hands to the side of the straps. If you wanna know how to do that, you can look up our other tutorial on this. It’s on another body part, but the method is the usable here too. It is on step 6.

Version 5

You can go under the crotch of your sub, through the straps in the back and make a knot in the upper straps with it. If you got more rope left, go back to the front etc. Depending on how mischievous you feel, you can make it very tight and press against he crotch 😉 He’ll be squirming.

Alright, that’s it for this tutorial. We hope you have fun with the hip harness. And don’t miss out on the chest part of it next time! Bye!
